If you're one of those anal retentive "Billy Cunningham"-type guys that wash your hands before each meal, irons your jeans, and basically don't like to get dirty.... well.... this game might do you some good. Slime World will show you that it's good to get wild, crazy, dirty and scummy from time to time. You might not want to admit it, but after playing this game, you won't be so shocked the next time you encounter thousands of tons of sickening slime. And guess what? You and up to seven other Comlynxed friends can get together for the most disgusting adventure of your lives!

In Todd's Adventures of Slime World, players take on the role of an intergalactic explorer who has descended upon a mysterious planet called Slime World in search of valuable Slime Gems. However, gathering up the Slime Gems is no cakewalk as they're scattered within the deepest catacombs of the planet. During your quest you'll trudge, climb, jump and crawl through hundreds of slime-dropping underground chambers and fight off hordes of heave-inducing, sticky monsters.

If it wasn't for the Computer Map that you're carrying, you'd easily get lost in the winding maze of passages. This game is absolutely humongous! The multitude of caverns, creatures and possible catastrophies awaiting at every turn is simply amazing. Cavernous monsters that lay submerged beneath the slime are always waiting to pounce on you. Some creatures fly at you while others drop down from above. And as you progress, you'll encounter slippery fields of ice, underground rivers of slime and pulsating orbs that frequently erupt in a shower of green slime. Fortunately, you have a hefty arsenal of weapons at your disposal. In addition to your basic laser gun, you can pick up Mega Bombs, Slime Cleansers, Portable Jet Packs and Slime Shields along the way.

As a one player contest, it's one of the deeper and more engrossing games on a portable system. There are six different scenarios to explore, and believe me, it'll take awhile for you to complete them. But Slime World truly shines in the multiplayer department. With the Comlynx you can get down and dirty with up to seven other players. And that's not all. There are several play options; in some adventures you cooperate with each other, in others you're foes and get to engage in some rowdy slimeball fights! Think of the latter mode as a cross between Doom and Metroid and you wouldn't be too far off from the truth.

For fans of adventure games, Todd's Adventures in Slime World is a no-brainer. Most games for portable systems - Lynx included - are of the action variety since the attention span in playing handhelds is obviously less than with a home TV console. This cart shines in both categories (like Metroid did) in combining the best elements of both. And it's a fine showcase for the full range of the Lynx's hardware capabilities. Vivid graphics, an engaging storyline and the multiplayer replayability factor make this a must-have title for Lynx owners.
