(Anonymous) (Playstation Review) 17th Apr 2012 05:53"The best soccer game on the PlayStation to date!!!"
After some close attempts by EA to come up with a good soccer game, they finally hit the nail on the head with FIFA 99. With over 250 club and national teams, you can't go wrong with this game. The game also has all of the best players too ( i.e. non american players), like Renaldo, Beckham and Bergkamp. It features leagues with teams from England, France, Italy etc. Also new to FIFA is the European Dream League featuring the best teams in Europe. There is also a lot of customization available. You can customize your league or cup and pick the teams you want to be in it. You can also edit player names and attributes and trade them between teams. And if you don't like the way your teams jersey look like, you can edit the socks, shorts and jersey to the colors of your liking. Now on to the gameplay and graphics. The graphics look very sharp and the motion captured moves look very life like. In the games amatuer level, the game is fairly easy. All you have to do is just sprint straight down the feild and usually end up with a goal. However, bump it up to Professional and the game gets much harder. No longer can one man dribble the ball the length of the feild. The defenders are much better and you will rarely be able to sprint by them, this is when you have to use strategy. Passing becomes key if you want to score. You can also switch formation on the fly, you can go froma all out attack to all out defend with the press of a button. This makes the game a much funner experience because one goal usually wins it. There is also commentary that goes on during the game. Although it sometimes gets repetitive, it adds a more life like atmosphere to the game. The TV style close ups and cut aways also add to the game. Overall, this is an excellent game. If you want a game with real players, teams and a lot of replay value, you should definitely check this game out!!
