(Anonymous) (Game Gear review) 27th Mar 2012 09:44"One of the best Arcade games, Heh, a yellow circle chased by ghosts"
John Kaelin (Matrix Luigi)-1/12/02, Sonic Drift 2, Game Gear, http://nintendoatlantis.homestead.com
Pac-Man's on the run! He's galloping though a maze filled with food dots. He gobbles them down fast, because the ghosts are right behind! If they catch him, he's ghostflakes!
But He can munch a Power Pellet and catch them! Catching the ghosts and gobbling all the food earns high points and clears the maze! Then Pac-Man starts right in again on the next maze. And so do the ghosts, even faster and hungrier than before. Yes! its Pac-Man, that yellow orb we all love!!!
Gameplay- 10/10, What can I say, a classic game like this cannot be improved upon anymore, you can easily get caught up in the game, laughing at the ghosts when you fake them, and when you eat them, only to run as they chase you once again, and manically try to get every dot in the shortest amount of time, only to do it again.
Storyline- 6/10, Pac-Man don't have much of a story line, other than to get past the boards, get all the pellets and keep away from the ghosts, and sometimes btw levels a short cinematic sequence will be shown. But other than that, not much of a storyline is shown until further games. And on each level are 4 Power Pellets in which you can eat them and the ghosts will be vulnerable for a short while. So, eat those ghosts while you can!
Graphics- 10/10, The Graphics are clear and crisp in this game, and is among some of the best. The color is great and is used to the color screen's full potential. Although the map is a bit stretched is the only issue I have with it though.
Audio/Sound- 8/10, There really isn't much music in the game, and what there is in it is great. But the sounds can get a bit monotonous.
Replay Value- 10/10, Replay Value is not argued, you play it once, and you've just got to pick it up and play another round, and its great, because it can fill up a long trip with Pac-Manny goodness.
Control- 10/10, The control on the game is as good as the original arcade version, it is quite responsive, and you never have trouble turning, or going down paths. The control on this game gets full credit.
Buy or Rent- YES, if you love Pac-Man, or just arcade games, or any game, you'll love Pac-Man, its worth the few bucks you will spend on it.
