"Just when fishing games couldn't get any worse"

Well,
I have to tell ya I'm not new to fishing games... I've played em' all. From the great "Pro Fishing Challenge" the medium "Sega Bass Fishing" to the poor "Rapala" series...

With that out of the way, let's get started shall we?
I picked up this game sight unseen. It's bass pro shops branded right? Wow! 19.95! What a bargain right? WRONG...

Players 1. No Multiplayer either.

Music 6
The music has a generic rock soundtrack. Not all that exciting. Been there, done that.

Sounds 7
There's an announcer that will say when to set the hook, how you're fighting the hawg like a pro, ect... Nothing new but average fare. Very repetitive.

Graphics 3
Blocky people and washed out boats. The scenery and water (Aside from when you land a fish, and it just looks poorly put together) are better, Nothing at all to write home about. The Graphics suck.

Gameplay 2
The one thing that could have saved this game. I can forgive a lot if the game is at least fun. It's not. Not by a long shot. There is a leaderboard, but it's blank. no scores to beat or anything, just every time you finish a tourney or challenge you newest score is added to the blank board. Yay... You occasionally unlock a new color of lure, by catching a fish on the same lure, but these fish would hit on a brick covered in manure if it was an option in this game. The fish will bite on ANYTHING. Lure selection doesn't mean squat here, nor the fishing conditions.

All in all, I've had an terrible time playing this game, and although I really tried to find some redeeming quality about it, I just can't. If you refuse to heed my warning, at least rent it first. It really isn't worth the 19.95 price tag. Pick up a copy of Pro Fishing Challenge instead. Hopefully somewhere down the line, someone will get the fishing genre right. As for now, I'm still waiting.
