John and Ste Pickford (Unknown) 22nd Mar 2013 12:36An odd 3D spacey arcade game that was being converted from the Spectrum to the Amstrad at Binary Design, for Quicksilva, while Ste was there on work experience.
Later re-released on the Bug-Byte label.
Ste writes: "One of several games which I just did the loading screen for, whilst on 'work experience' at Binary Design.
The Amstrad version was so tight on RAM that the programmer told me that the in-game control panel had to be on the loading screen, as there was no space for it anywhere in RAM (basically the control panel was loaded into VRAM before the rest of the game, and there was no copy of it anywhere else in RAM - leading to hilarious bugs when it was overwritten by stray bullets or mis-placed panel updates). That's why the loading screen image is only drawn in the space matching the in-game view."
