Micromania was started up in 1982, producing a handful of titles for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum and Acorn Atom.

By July 1983, Micromania was being forced into liquidation, unable to withstand the loss of payments after its distributor, Tiger, collapsed. It seemed a shame; never a front-runner, Micromania had nevertheless produced a handful of interesting games, last but not least being Project Future, a Crash Smash in Issue 14.

In Crash! Issue 18, it was written:
"Micromania had too much stock of their latest game in [their distributor] Tiger to withstand the loss of revenue. The irony is that, by all accounts, Project Future sold very well, mostly through Menzies with whom Tiger largely dealt, but because Tiger ended up owing Menzies money in the form of credit for returned, unsold tapes, companies like Micromania who should have received payment did not — for Menzies dealt with Tiger and not Micromania.". Tiger collapsed with debts of £500,000.
